Home hearth metaphor . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 58 In the presented project a kitchen is an originally realized metaphorical «home hearth», worth much attention. That’s why that apartment is organized by «a lantern» principle: the center of the space, the so-called «light source» is the kitchen-and-dining-room. It is fenced with sliding bow-shaped partitions (in the closed position they form a full circle). The partitions are assembled of the semitransparent matte glass panels; so when the light in the kitchen is switched on, it can be easily seen from any other place of the apartment. Healthy classics. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 66 Located on the last floor in the house situated in a socalled «Golden triangle» of the St.-Petersburg’s historical centre, that apartment should be designed in the XIX-th century’s stylistics. Architects and designers realized the owners’ dreams of a traditional home, having created a classical interior, freed both from palace grandiosity and museum severity. The apartment which had originally had a difficult inconvenient planning, caused by that building’s architecture, was significantly reconstructed. Now she participates in Yury and Inna Malikov’s project — «New Samotsvety». And, just as the group rearranges famous smash hits, Yana reconstructed apartment of her childhood, re-designed it in a modern style. The initial planning was successful enough: the apartment is divided into two zones — public and private ones. The public zone includes a functional vestibule, a spacious living-room and a kitchen, a capacious wardrobe and a laundry, and the private one has a bedroom and a nursery. Accurate space division into two zones (a bedroom and a nursery and a living room and a kitchen-dining room) makes living here as much comfortable as possible. The living room interior is decorated in chocolate color on contrast with light tones of walls and furniture. The planning has two parts consisting of private and guest zones. Interiors are designed in minimalist style; decoration of walls, niche shelves and a ceiling is specially highlighted. The re-planning was done to provide everyone with his personal space. It was important to find maximum space. A living room and a kitchen were unified also with balconies. The additional space in a teenage son’s room was got by placing the bedding zone on the upper level. The special difficulty was caused by necessity of the second bathroom with a shower cabin. Three directions. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 102 The apartment of 115 sq. m in the panel house was initially oriented on three cardinal directions and had a quadrate planning form. Such situation is considered not enough successful. Architects had only to make a more convenient planning according to owners’ wishes and to create an individual image of the apartment.
