Authors of the pr oject faced the following problem: they had to unify all the architectural ideas. Then an ellipse was chosen as the basic element of that apar tment’s design. That geometrical figur e allows to develop softly all the r oomspace in the necessary dir ection. As a r esult, all the «br eaking up» architectural elements appeared to be collected in a uniform composition. Return to innocence . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 22 That apar tment’s owners have a vast experience having designed their pr evious apar tment in a modern style. So when the second living space — an apartment in a newly built apar tment complex — was pur chased, the owners decided to design its interior in a classical style, because they did not feel comfort enough in the ver y modern styled envir onment. The home’ s technical featur es not always allow embodying all the customer ’s wishes. The custom-designed planning allowed to free the architect’s fantasy. Eclectic image . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 34 The eclectic design of that city apar tment is based on classical design motives. Never theless the considerable r ole in its image is played also by modern decoration ways. Use of textur ed finishings allowed to create easy and thus sated enough background for elegant fur niture sets and accessories. The planning not only highlighted an ar chitectural originality of the building, but also marked dynamics of smooth lines. Elegant motives. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 44 The reference to classics and use of ar t deco elements allow to cr eate eclectic, dif ficult, cr eative mood in any interior . A possibility to use bright and sated shades’ palette appeared due to the big space of that apar tment. Stucco mouldings and also elements of author ’s exclusive design intr oduce themselves a definite sensation of luxur y. Laconic romanticism . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 52 Apartment is designed with the use of contrast architectural ideas and pastel colours. It is filled by soft warm light and it is cr eated for a quiet comfor table living. One of its interior ’s picturesque features is a theme of the butter fly as a symbol of pleasur e, the sun, youth and spring. Classical grandeur. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 60 Classical motives in a moder n apar tment’s design can make interiors strict and well-balanced or , vice versa, r epresent themselves as an original background where bright and elegant «palace» scener y prevails. Such «celebratory» approach is highlighted in this case by use of plaster stucco mouldings, for ging and also some other characteristic decorative elements. V ivacity and dynamics is given to this interior also by stained-glass windows with fine drawing. That design’s colour palette is based on war m soft sand tones, in contrast with brown scale. Creation of a spacious living r oom and a kitchen-dining became a special wish of customers room as the family likes give home par ties. The interior’s main featur es are logic, practicality and graceful decoration ideas. A hall, a living room and a dining r oom together represent the uniform, but functionally divided studio. Symphony in pastel tones . . . . . . . . . . . . 98 The owners re-planned a standard three-room apartment in a Stalin epoque house: they dismantled walls and designed a studio by merging one of the rooms with kitchen. Also they combined a toilet and a bathroom. The apartment is designed in a light and modern style.
